Which African Countries Have the Highest Internet Penetration?
A recent Wall Street Journal article reveals which African countries have the highest Internet penetration among their residents. Surprisingly, Morocco is the highest with 51%, followed by Egypt at 36% and Kenya (tied with Nigeria) at 28%. Next is Senegal (18%), South Africa (175), Angola (15%), Algeria (14%), Ghana (14%), and Tanzania (12%). All other African countries have less than 6% Internet penetration among their residents. The article was based on research published by the consulting firm McKinsey, which estimates that only 16% of Africans have access to the Internet. McKinsey predicts that by 2025, 50% of Africans will be online.
