Nestle to Divest its USA Candy Segment

Nestle SA is trying to divest of its USA candy division that sells such products as Baby Ruth, Butterfinger and Crunch as the company sees Americans switching more and more to healthier snacks.  Analysts estimate the segment to be worth about $3 billion as the segment generates about 900 million Swiss francs (922 million) in annual sales or nearly 3 percent of total USA candy sells.  Nestle is the world’s third largest confectioner behind leader Mars Inc. and second-ranked Mondelez International; in the USA the largest candy firm is Hershey followed by Mars (p. 143a).
