A subsidiary of Viacom
Blockbuster Entertainment Group is the video and
music/theme park subsidiary of entertainment megacorporation
Viacom. Blockbuster's eponymous video-rental stores
are #1 in the US, with more than 4,000 stores in
all 50 states (there are another 2,000 stores in
more than 20 foreign countries). Its somewhat pared-down
music retailer, Blockbuster Music (which Viacom
has agreed to sell to Wherehouse Entertainment),
operates more than 400 US outlets, plus a handful
in Australia. Along for the ride is Paramount Parks,
operator of five theme parks and a water park in
Charlotte, North Carolina; Cincinnati; Toronto;
Richmond, Virginia; and San Jose and Santa Clara,
